ADJUNCT KUDOS · Juliana Atkinson, who teaches ASL Syntax and Grammar in the Sign Language Interpreter Ed.
Dept., has been accepted into the
Theatre Development Fund's ‘Interpreting for the Theatre’ workshop at The Juilliard School this
June. Only 20 interpreters were
accepted after the audition process. · Deborah McCarthy had her work featured at Muse Gallery in a
Small Works Exhibition, which contained more than 100 works by regional and
national artists. Ms McCarthy’s work was included in a benefit for In Liquid and the Abigail Rebecca Cohen
Foundation in the fall semester. · Michael Colbert was declared a doctoral candidate in Philadelphia College of Osteopathic
Medicine's (PCOM) clinical PsyD. program in Oct. The future Dr Colbert has
been an adjunct in the Psychology Dept. for 8 years. · Sheila Sikorski, a Philadelphia Women’s Baseball League
member and adjunct with Academic Skills/Reading and Writing, will present
findings from her graduate research in a talk titled “Women Playing Baseball:
Past and Present” on March 22 at 7:00 pm. This is part of A Passion for Baseball sponsored by the
Blackwood Campus Library. · Adjuncts
Jacob Schoenholtz of the Psychology Dept., Nancy Raftery in the English Dept. and Mignon Brooks in Academic Skills were recently announced
as new full-time hires by Humanities Dean, Robert Kaczorwoski. |

obtained from your department secretary. (Save time and effort by just
carrying them with you.) · Be sure to review and discard the old mail in your college email. The
college is moving more and more to electronic information transmission. If your email box is full, you may not be
receiving notices that are important to you. · Take advantage of a 10% discount in the college bookstore (though not on
texts). You also can get a card giving you 10% off at the Barnes & Noble
on Rte 70, near the Marlton Circle. · There is a tax deduction of up to $4,000 in tuition benefits for teachers
continuing their education thru graduate and professional development. |

Construction Update Madison /Connector Project:
Melissa Hopp announced that we should have occupancy of the new buildings by
the fall semester. Live construction can be viewed at the College’s website
by clicking on “about us.” Camden Conference Center: The center, including a
180-seat large lecture hall and a large banquet/meeting facility, will be
open in April 2007. CIM Building: Plans were announced to fix the roof and
walls of the CIM building. The repairs will take place during the warm
weather and during those periods when the building is not in heavy use. Science Building: Melissa Hopp and County officials are
finalizing the bonding for the new Science Building. The design firm for the
building will be approved in the next several months. |

Adjunct Excellence Awards The
spring semester is the season when nominations are made for the Adjunct
Teaching Excellence Awards. Three $1,000 awards are given each year at the
fall orientation to adjuncts who have demonstrated excellence in: · Engaging
students in the learning process · Demonstrating
mastery of subject matter · Being
responsive to students’ needs · Contributing
toward advancing goals of the department and the mission of the college Students,
colleagues, chairs, or other members of the college community may nominate
adjuncts. To be eligible, adjuncts must have taught at the College for at
least ten (10) semesters.
Applications will be available the beginning of March and must be
submitted by March 30. |
